LAGOS, NIGERIA - As the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) accelerates its preparations for the Local Government Area (LGA) and Local Council Development Area (LCDA) elections, Electoral Commissioner Hon. Oladele Adekanye (pictured fifth from the left, third from the right) joins key commission leaders at a pivotal capacity-building workshop organised by Bridge, titled "A Curriculum in Electoral Processes."

The high-profile seminar, held on January 27, 2025, served as a strategic foundation for ensuring a transparent, credible, and seamless electoral process. Standing alongside Hon. Adekanye in the photograph are prominent figures guiding the commission: Mr. Fashola (Permanent Secretary), Prof. Metilelu Olumide Olusola (Electoral Commissioner), Chief Oluwo Akim Durojaiye (Electoral Commissioner), Hon. Justice Bola Okikiolu-Ighile (RTD) (Chairman of LASIEC), Mr. Aileru Abeeb Dapo (Electoral Commissioner), and Mr. Samson Ajibade (Electoral Commissioner). Together, this leadership team underscored LASIEC's collective commitment to upholding the highest international standards in electoral administration.

The timing of this intensive training is highly significant, coming just months before Lagosians head to the polls. The curriculum offered deep insights into modern electoral management, international best practices, and strategic stakeholders' engagement. By equipping LASIEC with these advanced tools, the seminar directly fortified the commission’s readiness to handle the complex logistics of managing a multi-tiered local election.

For Hon. Oladele Adekanye, participating in this world-class seminar reflects a steadfast dedication to democratic integrity and professional governance. The knowledge reinforced during this program will be instrumental as LASIEC fine-tunes its strategies to deliver a free, fair, and peaceful election, cementing grassroots democracy across all LGAs and LCDAs in Lagos State.
